An ingested foreign object may be to blame, and it may have since passed.
Steve and I have twice had ferrets who had something similar from genetic causes. Was the surrounding tissue friable?
One was an albino female with a friable small intestine. She had several repairs in her life and actually lived a full lifespan, reaching late in her 8th year.
She would at times have enough inflammation that her stomach would not empty.
Because she was an albino it was not possible to know if she had any neural crest genetic variant genetics hidden in there.
The other was a male who had definite neural crest genetic variant markings. Although he was not a blaze or panda head he did have extraneous white body/limb spotting (instead of the clean, complete and bilateral replacement of black with white in entire mitts and entire bib that is seen in the safe cause of mitts and bibs).
He also had unilateral syndactyly. B
Both his stomach and small intestine were progressively distending, becoming thinner, larger, less effective, and more inclined toward tears and blockages. They finally became too friable for further corrections and when he passed away (on the sudden side and in my arms when he aggitated to be held, then sighed and left us) it was from his stomach shredding. He passed at the age of 6, so he never attained a full lifespan.
Neural crest variants can alter the innervation of multiple organs (and that is a very hot topic right now in medical genetics and has been for a few years since it is known to be able to increase the RATE of multiple medical problems). The intestines are among tissues that can be affected.
