Subject: [ferrethealth] RE: Pred overdose?
Short term large doses are used now or then for treating various problems so short term that large dose would possibly have almost no negative effect at all. Longer term a dose that large in a ferret who does not have a medical condition that counterindicates the use of Pred could have been hard on her stomach, depending on how well she coped with it, cause fat deposition problems, possibly cause fur loss, etc. We have had a small female on a dose that size for lymphoma as her final dose.
BTW, if there is any liver function problem then Prednisolone might work more effectively that Prednisone. That is not an unusual thing to encounter in ferrets.
