Subject: [ferrethealth] RE: Teddy is running out of time, Can anyone help?
I've been a researching like a crazy woman this morning. Keep in mind that he is tumor/growth/visible lesion free. Poor guy have been xrayed from nose to tail.
The first page that the EE search pulled up had a diagnostic description. That symptom description fits what is going almost to a T. The best treatment info I can find out about Eosinophilic Gastroenteritis is Prednisone or some other type of steroid (dealers choice here I guess) and a grain free diet to reduce the quantity of histamines that the intestines can produce.
I've found Innova EVO for kittens (NO GRAINS) and there is a cat vet here that actually sells it. Poor Teddy - no more Captain Crunch for him...isn't that how it always works - we love what is bad for us:) But seriously, I know this diagnosis is not very positive and that we are looking at a chronic condition that may be very difficult to manage...but honestly, I'm relieved to finally knowing what we are most likely dealing with. It's hard to battle the unknown...at least now I can get a plan.
