Subject: [ferrethealth] RE: sugar
I do have some questions, actually. In humans one of the non-genetic things that does most strongly correlate to the onset of pancreatic disease (in humans as diabetes) is obesity, including juvenile obesity. Has anyone looked at pancreatic disease, either diabetes or insulinoma levels in relation to obesity in ferrets or in relation to reduced muscle mass levels and reduced tone (sarcopenia) in case lack of exercise, too much adipose tissue, or the combination might play a part?
I am also personally curious if the newly discovered pancreatic estradiol receptors in mammals may play a role.
