Three other possibilities besides the excellent one that Brett mentioned:

1. The ferret may be trying to tell you that something is wrong somewhere. We have had this happen with one ferret dragging us to another room to help another ferret who had somehow gotten trapped, or even at least once to "rescue" a favorite toy.

2. The ferret may not feel well; it is not unusual for returns to juvenile behavior with illness in mammals and is actually something zoo health experts watch as a possible signal of a hidden health problem. Hey, humans do that, too.

3. There might be adrenal disease. Some ferrets do either of two things with adrenal disease that could explain what you encountered. Some get aggressive. Some begin to want to baby things, and fingers and toes are a good size and pretty well bald. One of ours did that extensive grooming to my toes and then attempted to stash my toes under the furniture.

So, if this continues, do check to see that everything is right at home and get a vet appointment in which you ask about possible early adrenal disease.
