Subject: [ferrethealth] Insulinoma final stages
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

My experience with Sally, my first ferret, who was also a non surgical med treated ferret. The decline was very slow and even when she could only manage a 1/2 hr activity at a time she still seemed happy and playful at those times so I was too slow to make that hard decision until she had a massive fit, throwing herself alll over her cage and giiving out piercing screams. It was terrible to witness and I took her straight to the vet when the fit subsided and held her while the vet gave her the final injection and she slipped away.
I feel terribly guilty for not acting sooner even 8 months later and have found this very hard to write. She was a brave ferret who deserved better from me.
You will feel happier with youself if you act earlier out of love than leaving it too late, you can do no more than your best so dont feel guilty.
