Subject: [ferrethealth] RE: Insulinoma final stages

Tony, there is no reason for you to feel guilty and none to destroy a ferret early if insulinoma is present.

During grand mal seizures the individuals do NOT feel anything and are not aware. They do not suffer with these. Sometimes there is incredibly disconcerting screaming but that is due to the electrical storms causing the lungs to produce sudden, large exhales, so it is mechanical rather than anything that is purposely done. I can actually attest personally to this (beyond it being information that is available readily in knowledgeable references) because I once had a series of such convulsions when I had a bad allergic reaction to a component of anesthesia. Honestly, I was just plain out of it and my only memory is when I slightly came out of it and felt the cool gel being put on my chest and heard the person explaining what it was. Then I went off again and know nothing else from that day. There was no pain and I never knew till afterward that I had convulsed. So, do *not* feel guilty, Tony. You suffered that day, but your ferret did not.
