Subject: [ferrethealth] Boo Boo still fat: how much food?
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

Well, after a year and a half Boo Boo's weight still goes up and down. He
eats like a pig---big time---for a while, then he slacks off and loses a
little, gets more bouncy, etc. Right now we've cut him back (as of
yesterday) to 3 spoonfuls of food. By spoonfuls I mean the bigger of the
two spoons that comes in a set of silverware. If we let him eat on his own
at the bowl---he'll eat much, much more!

He follows us around after he eats, looking up at us anxiously as if he's
saying he's still hungry. He doesn't do this when we let him eat until he's
full.

Boo Boo's (before ulcer treatment over a year ago) weight was "normal" at
3.8 lbs. He's around 5.5 right now, possibly six. And it's definitely from
pigging out. He's still on gravy, though, because he refuses to eat kibble
no matter what we've tried---and we've been trying forever now. We think
it's his teeth, but we can't afford the dental cleaning right now.

How much should he be eating? I feel so bad because of the way he acts when
I stop him after 3 spoonfuls and put him down. :-(

Thanks in advance.
