Subject: [ferrethealth] Using Melatonin Implants as a preventative
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

I have been into the archives and reading, and I am still confused- if someone can please clarify, I would appreciate it...
I have a few questions about using the implants as a preventative.
1. What are the best times of year to implant?
2. Is Dr. Murphy the best one to have my vet consult regarding doing the surgery? What is the contact number?
3. Is there an age limit for the ferret? Upper OR lower?
4. Does the ferret have to be perfectly healthy? I'm thinking of my boy with ulcers.
5. Where are the implants purchased?
6. How long do the implants last, and is the risk of anesthesia worth the possible preventative measures, vs. just using oral supplementation?

Thank you to anyone responding to clarify this for me- I am very interested in doing this, but need more information before I just plunge into it with a bunch of ferrets. Gerri
