My own inclination would be to remind myself repeatedly to not get ahead of myself. Some of the medications for the heart can be tried without further tests. Others can be used after doing an ultrasound, and we often have not had our ferrets even sedated for those -- just cuddled by vet techs while beign positioned and kept in place.
If the heart meds return your ferret's joy in life then the two of you have more time to enjoy together.
