Subject: [ferrethealth] RE: Pedialite - Good or Bad?
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

Aw
My Fonzi had EG. It is a horrible illness that no ferret should ever, ever have to go through.

It was a long initial diagnostic period. I ended up feeding him a venison diet after duck soup. This helped a LOT.

Pred worked for him also, and I took him off after about six months. He was great off his meds until a few months later, about six. Then he totally relapsed, a fatal one. Combination of ECE also.

Giving him pedialyte would be just fine. Mixing it in with duck soup instead of water would be great, also. Make sure he is eating some high-cal and fat foods, like dark meat, eggs, and heavy whipping cream (preferably organic). Sub q's would be great too. Jeffers Pet Supplies sells some products, or just ask your vet next time.

I will pray for you guys, I truly hope he feels better quickly!!
Good Luck
Krista
