This is mainly an American problem that is spreading around the world, most
non UK ferrets are farm raised on kibble and never see real food or cows
milk. Lactose intolerance is a fairly new problem as for hundreds of years
ferrets were raised on bread, milk and meat scraps. I never let my ferrets
get into that state, even breeders I know that feed only raw rabbit whole
carcase give a little milk and egg regularly to keep the right sort of gut
bacteria alive to make things easier in the advent of illness. Before
anybody says "yes but Bread and Milk was a poor diet compared to kibble"
just remember kibble uses nearly 50% ground grains as some sort as a binding
agent, ground grains + water = bread. Chris
