Subject: [ferrethealth] Xray shows stone? blockage? what?
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

I've just created an album called Clover's, with xrays taken yesterday. (I had to get back there today with my digital camera.) The vet doesn't know what that opaque round thing is and asked me to post it. He doesn't seem to think it's a blockage, and Buddy doesn't seem to be in intestinal distress, but I'd sure like to know about this.

And if anyone can shed light on this other stuff, maybe tell something from the xray or from experience, that would be great, too. I brought him in because about 4 months ago a vet at that office (but not that vet) did xrays and insisted that Buddy had a large tumor right on his heart--between heart and rib cage--and probably wouldn't live out the month, and to just try and make him comfortable for the time he had left. (He did them twice, and insisted that it couldn't be fluid, hunched posture, or anything else.) Today, he's still alive and frolicky, has gotten massively fat, and dribbles a lot. I figured if he was going to keep on going maybe I'd better see to his other problems. Well! No sign of a tumor and probably never was one, though there is some strange fluid buildup, especially towards the throat side. This vet says it's an easy mistake to make. Yeah, and one that probably cost Buddy several months without whatever treatment he actually did need!

Upcoming rant: Don't get me wrong--I'm glad he doesn't have that tumor. But whatever he does have has gone untreated in the mean time and I don't get so much as an apology. And what kind of vet charges for a checkup and then doesn't even weigh or palpitate (and on one with KNOWN tumors, no less).
