Subject: [ferrethealth] Placing heating pad underneath cage floor
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

I may be a worrier for nothing, but I would be concerned using anything
that
has a cord that is plugged in.

I have ferrets in about 40degree temp room and they are fine, lots of
bedding
and they know how to snuggle down with each other as well.
I will say they are much more active and happy in the cooler months than
in
the summer , warmer temps. I notice a few of mine, usually my smaller
girl,
will shiver when first gets up or first picked up- even in the summer,
and
doesn't seem to be related to being cold per se ( perhaps warming up from
a lower body temp. caused by being asleep)

After surgery is one time to have concern about them being too cold, for
this
period I do have one of those disks you microwave and lasts about 8
hours-
that works well and is safe.
