My 6 yr old male shivered a ton the last month or so before he died of advanced adrenal cancer. We believed it was because the tumor was restricting blood flow, make his heart not work as well thus decreasing his circulation and making it hard for him to warm up. I also had a older male (he died of liver failure of unknown origin...we think he was about 7 when he died) who shivered the whole two years I owned him. As for the tick...I noticed my adrenal boy having a bit of a tick that last two weeks before he died. He would be laying there in his bed shivering, when suddenly his body would jerk a bit, or his head. It was weird. I didn't look into all that much as I knew his time was running out anyways.

I have no clue what could be making your girl shiver and tick. I do know that as the heart gets old and sluggish, shivering is very common. As for the tick...I have no idea. Whether or not this is a sign of illness...I can't say. I just have two cases of shivering boys and one with a tick who passed on not to long after I noticed it. I hope I haven't scared you...I did not mean to.

Best of luck to you.
