Subject: [ferrethealth] hemangiosarcoma - vets advise needed
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

Our 4 year old male, Pooh, had a marble sized tumor removed from his abdomen last week. It was just above the penis. It was under the skin and adhered to the abdomen wall. The vet said it bleed when she removed it but she got it all. The pathology report came in today and said that it's a hemangiosarcoma. It said it was slow growing and might grow back but said little else because it was not a common tumor in ferrets. I'm worried that it will grow back where I can't see it.

I looked it up on the web and I'm just plain confused! Most info. talks about it being in the spleen not under the skin, and some say it's fast growing and can metastasize, and others say just the opposite.

Any information on this tumor would be greatly appreicated!

Ps) I looked in the archives and saw an old post from Dr. Willimas saying he was studying different types of tumors. Is there any way to get in touch with him?

Thanks
Lisa
