I agree that a delay of several hours is unusual for anaphylactic reactions, but I've been wondering if some of these symptoms could occur in a mild, somewhat-delayed version the first time.

Fizzbin had his first distemper shot three weeks ago without showing any effect. He had his second shot on Wednesday, and he was pretty lethargic for about 24 hours after I got him home, plus dropped 3-4 loads of foamy diarrhea during the night. (I did wait at the vet for a while after the vaccination, but didn't notice any immediate symptoms. He was awake and observing the other people and animals in the lobby.) I'm a little worried as to whether this implies he might have a stronger reaction next year, and whether I should plan on pre-treating with Benadryl.

Unfortunately, it's hard to be sure the vaccination is to blame. He first spent the morning in the office with me before the vet appointment, and he also received flea/earmite treatment (Frontline), implant of a microchip, and had blood drawn for an ADV test. The symptoms may just have been a result of the accumulated stress and excitement of the day. OTOH, his first vet visit not only included vaccination, but also flea/earmite treatment and radiographs, plus he visited my office for the first time. He was extremely tired after all those new sights and smells! But, he had no diarrhea and was as perky as usual the next day after a good night's sleep.
