Subject: [ferrethealth] ungodly odor
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

One of my elder boys, aprox 4 yrs old, has had very smelly, mucousy, slimy, clear to opaque colored poop this morning when I cleaned his cage. The best way I can describe the odor is, if you've ever smelled the discharge from a parvo dog, that is exactly what this smelled like. He started to refuse to eat his regular kibble (ferret store blue, totally ferret active, growth & development kitten, mixed) and I've been feeding him slightly watered/warm chicken baby food (the brand with out the added starch) which he had been lapping up ravenously. He has been drinking fine out of a bowl but won't use the bottle. His BG has been averaging around 94 and this morning I lifted a much lighter boy than as of late.

I have him seperated from the rest of the business so I can monitor his intake/output and to keep him stress free (hopefully). I have some Childrens Kaopectate I was given for ferrets ('script was $95 for the scant 8 oz bottle!) and dosed him before feeding him this am.

Haven't noticed any pawing at the mouth but he did grind his teeth twice when feeding him today. I gave him 1/8 tablet of Zantac before heading off to work.

Thoughts?
