* This sounds like IBD, as was suggested. I had a baby with this (more specifically, EE). He was diagnosed after previous diagnoses' failed to be proven. He did very well on Pedia Pred. He loved getting his fruity flavored medication, God rest his soul, he went through so much with this horrible disease before knowing what it was. The vet was very surprised he lived for over a year after I got him.

The best way I can describe the odor is, if you've ever smelled the discharge from a parvo dog, that is exactly what this smelled like.

* I haven't smelled this, thankfully, but it really does smell bad. Mucousy poop is my favorite! If you need to clean it off surfaces, hot water and vinegar works pretty well.

He started to refuse to eat his regular kibble (ferret store blue, totally ferret active, growth & development kitten, mixed) and I've been feeding him slightly watered/warm chicken baby food (the brand with out the added starch) which he had been lapping up ravenously.

* Try out some Hills A/D diet, at your vet's office. This stuff put weight on my Buddy after adrenal surgery a few days after coming home. I love it! Feed him small amounts throughout the day.

He has been drinking fine out of a bowl but won't use the bottle. His BG has been averaging around 94 and this morning I lifted a much lighter boy than as of late.

* Weight loss can be caused by IBD too. Try out some prednisone, it may help a lot.

> I have him seperated from the rest of the business so I can monitor his intake/output and to keep him stress free (hopefully). I have some Childrens Kaopectate I was given for ferrets ('script was $95 for the scant 8 oz bottle!) and dosed him before feeding him this am.

*That is a LOT for Kaopec. Wow. Jeffers Pet is a good place to get it, BTW, the old formulation is under K*Pad. It's about 7 bucks I think. BUT the Kaopec will not help the cause, only the effect (if you're lucky). What it does is helps suck out impurities that cause simple diarrhea.

EE basically attack the lining of the intestines. So the kaopec may be soothing. BUT the lining, even if it isn't EE, may be inflamed. Watch out for a prolapsed rectum, too.

Pred works as a steroid, taking down inflamation. It helped my guy a LOT! Put an extra year on his life. A good year.

Get him check out again! My prayers are with you guys.
Krista
