If the checkup does come out okay, though, then you might want to google for some of Bob Church's articles and FML postings on environmental enrichment. Even though your ferret has free roam, it still isn't the same as the huge, constantly-changing territory that a wild polecat would face. There's always a need to provide new challenges and stimulation to prevent boredom and stress, though I imagine a playmate wouldn't hurt, either.
