Subject: [ferrethealth] Question on stool (Missy, poss ECE update)
By sun AM missy's stool has become a pastel green water with big green slimy mucus chunks in it. She was given kaolin-pectin and subQ fluids, and was continually force fed. She remained dehydrated through the day, and was given SQ fluids as needed. Then, sun evening her stool become less watery, and turned brown. As of now she is drinking on her own, but still has no appetite, and is pretty lethargic (though more alert today than yesterday). Her stool is now runny brown with yellow mucus blobs in it. No birdseed things.
My questions is, is this stool progression normal for an ECE/diarrhea from stress case? As of now she is on Amoxi, and kaolin-pectin. I will start carafate tonight. When does one consider adding pred to the mix if this is a case of ECE?
