Subject: [ferrethealth] food concerns
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

I have a food issue. i've been letting my 5 year old,
mf female eat, as a snack science diet light feline.
she has free feed totally ferret and I give her and my
7 year old mf female at least a tablespoon of homemade
chicken gravy, mixed with pedilyte, every day. raven
has had less and less interest in the cg. I got them
both melatonin chipped on saturday, something that
I've had done once before on them, with no reaction at
all from either. in the past two days, she's had
nothing but grainy and muscuousy poop/dioherra of all
colors. Today was the soonest she could be seen by my
favorite vet who tested the stool, which was negative,
and took blood. she was dehydrated at the vet office
and they gave her sub q fluids.

Now my question is, she will happily eat the science
diet and the eukaunba cat but not her totally ferret.
should i allow her to eat that now, until we get the
blood work back, know that the food itself may be the
issue? do I force (which I really don't want to do)
chicken gravy into her? have i ruined her digestion
with the sd light?

btw, my other ferret is showing no signs of any of
this so I don't believe it is something contagous that
they picked up when being chipped.

thanks in advance
