Ferrets are pretty good at disguising their pain, so it can be hard to tell. Cancer IS a painful condition, however, though the pain may not be continuous. But, why does this have to be an either-or decision between being pain free or euthanized? Can't your vet provide medications for pain management? I've never understood why we always seem to let an animal get into extreme pain and then have it put down, when we could easily extend its quality of life by managing the pain. We rarely seem to offer our animals analgesia of any sort, except perhaps immediately after surgery. We just seem to expect them to tough out any healing process.

I would be interested in hearing from some of the vets how they deal with this issue.

Brett
