I don't see how it could be at all healthy for *any* advanced land
animal (mammal or reptile) to be deprived of natural sunlight for
extended periods.

As ferret people, we tend to think about light in terms of adrenal
issues, melotonin and so forth, but remember that sunlight is
critical to vitamin D and calcium metabolism. Is there a link
there? I thought it was fascinating to read the posts about
melotonin and bone density because to me, the common thread is
natural sunlight....
