Something that no one has mentioned is state laws. In Florida the vet
who administers the vaccine is requied to give you a vaccination tag and
a certificate stating what animal was vaccinated, the brand and lot
number of the vaccine and the name and license number of the vet.
Without that certificate, the animal has not been legally vaccinated.
That only applies to rabies, which is a public health issue, not to
distemper. You can give the distemper vaccine yourself if you are
willing to risk a reaction.
