When Pogey had her adrenal surgery, she dropped about 70 g in three days, from about 940 g down to about 870 g. She stayed around this weight for about two weeks, though she ate well, and then began gaining again. She was generally hyperactive for a while after surgery. After one surgery she didn't sleep for about 48 hours, but was constantly in motion the whole time. It nearly drove me crazy, but would certainly explain a weight loss.

Perhaps you just need to boost his caloric intake for a bit, using extra fat (olive oil?), heavy cream, etc., until his metabolism settles back down.
