Subject: [ferrethealth] Possible Virus?
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

Hi, this email is posted with permission (and the appropriate things forwarded this time...sorry about that!) I have passed on the requests to her for further information (age, blood test results, etc), so hopefully she'll get back to me soon. In the meantime, any thoughts would be appreciated!

Hello,
We are having problems with one of our girl ferrets and we dont know what to do next. We have done blood work, antibiotics, anifungal, geardia tests, and steriods. She keeps having repeatative bacterial and fungal infections and she is getting worse and worse. The vet thinks she may have had a virus that ruined her villa or microvilla in her intestins and that is why she cant digest her food, but when she does hav the antibiotics/fungal her stool goes back to normal, so im not sure how that all adds up. At this point he says he thinks she is terminally ill. we are still not sure 100% what she has and he has come to this conclusion because of the previous test mentioned above and the fact that she is not reponding to the steroids. Have you or any one in the ferret community ever delt with something like this and if so what course of action did they take?
