Subject: [ferrethealth] RE: Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy

As with dilative cardiomyopathy the big thing is to try to have an ultrasound of the heart so that the medications can be adjusted specifically to the needs of the individual.

We were able to get quite a few months (maybe half a year? maybe more?) long ago for one of ours who had it but it did take time to catch on to why she was losing weight no matter what. (That weight loss stopped once her heart was medicated.)

I don't recall the types of meds being any different, but which ones were used when depended on her individual needs, as with others with cardiomyopathy.

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy can be very hard to catch
