Subject: [ferrethealth] Help my ferret!
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com
Help? I have a pretty sick ferret and his symptoms keep changing! I'm a vet tech but
I have no idea what to do!
I had an appointment with his vet yesterday and she didt the best she could but I
have to go back today for xrays.
Is anybody a ferret vet? Does anyone have experience to help?
At first he was very lethargic (sleepy) not eating, drinking, or eliminating! He
wouldn't play or even open his eyes much, seemed painful in the belly
The next day he started to play a bit and I thought he was doing better but I noticed
now he was sneezing and his nose was very runny. But he was playing
Now this morning he is eating and drinking large amounts and now he is
eliminating normally but not playing at all and barely walking around the cage. he
also seems to be having some sort of stomach convulsions!
The vet said he probably isn't obstructed but seems very sensitive in the upper
spine area.
Took X-rays this evening, everything spinal appears ok. I recieved pain medication
and a general antibiotic and told me to recheck on Monday!
I don't know what to do, I'm so worried.
I would take him to the emergency vet but I just can't afford it, its like $200 just to
walk in the door! I get free care at my own vet and when you live paycheck to
paycheck on ramen noodles and spaghettios its hard to find that kind of money.
PLEASE HELP!
CAN ANYBODY TELL ME WHATS WRONG WITH MY Sweet baby!
