To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com
Well, I talked to the vet who did the original ultrasound and got the following info:
She is ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN that it was not the prostate she saw. She says that the prostate was 8.2 mm on one side and 11.1 mm on the other. The other mass was higher up in the abdomen and did not look like a lymph node, either. She described the difference in appearance of the lymph node and the mass and how they are different. Additionally, she said the other mass was cranial to the bladder and caudal to the spleen.
So, I am so unsure about things. As I told the vet on Sat., I am trying to do the best I can for Shadow, and doing it with vets with whom I have limited experience. Both vets seem to know what they are talking about and I am not allowed to observe anything (although I have ALWAYS observed abdominal ultrasounds in the past). I am just frustrated and do not want to wait on this. I think I need to be aggressive when treating something that can cause blockage. While I am even ready to opt for surgery, I am not getting either vet thinking this is a good idea right now. I don't want to drag in a third vet. And, everyone is at least an hour's drive for me, so this is not just a drive down the road!
Sukie, I forwarded your info. Thanks.
