Hi All,
I had a blind ferret a few years ago who was having major hair loss and she had
the melatonin implant. Within a few weeks her hair grew back in and she had no
other problems til lymphoma took her about 2 yrs later. She had been blinded by
someone putting something in her eyes to correct an infection. I never found out
what it was. She was one of the sweetest natured ferrets I have had. She was about 4
when she had the implant so maybe age had something to do with the decrease of
melatonin and that is why the implant worked. Just a thought and my two cents
worth!

That is actually an EXCELLENT question.

If memory serves melatonin production is decreased with age, but otherwise it
might be that giving melatonin might make no difference for this one. It would not
hurt to try, but may not matter.
