Subject: [ferrethealth] Prolapse & using Preparation H when ferret has Cardiomyopathy
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

Hi All,

My ferret has developed a pretty serious prolapse from a rich, soft diet made from canned A/D, turkey baby food and various supplements (only given w/ one feeding). She normally eats Bob C's chicken gravy (made with turkey instead) but started having some GI issues shortly after the last batch so I stopped giving it and haven't had a chance to make more. Her Insulinoma has gotten much worse which is why I added A/D to the above mix. I will add canned pumpkin to the next feeding for fiber.

So, does anyone know if it is safe to use Preparation H on a ferret with Cardiomyopathy? I ask, because the package says not to use if heart disease is present. I put Vaseline on it for now but it is really tender and she licks most of that off. I don't know if I could push it back in or not and nobody is open in my area until tomorrow morning that will see a ferret.

Thanks.
