Subject: [ferrethealth] Possible alternative to compounding pharmacist

Perhaps many of you knew about this, but I just found out from a poster on another
board who used to work for CVS pharmacy. She gave me permission to repost this
here in her own words:

> CVS Pharmacy uses Flavor/RX. Different flavors can be used to
> change the taste of the meds. They also have a book, from
> Flavor/RX which tells which flavoring can be used with which
> meds. You have to be careful when you use CVS for this though,
> as the Flavor/RX also uses a 'sweetner' and when you are having
> something like Pedipred or predislone flavored for the
> Insulinomic ferret you do NOT want the sweetner used.

> Not all stores can do this and of course not all meds are
> available at all stores. Cheaper then using a compounding
> pharmacy.

She also told me in a followup that meat flavors are not available, as they would be
in a compounding pharmacy. However, this could be an excellent alternative in
some cases if there is a CVS store in your area that offers the service.
