YES, food intolerance can also play a role.

One of ours did not have that problem, but the other could not tolerate any poultry at all. He was greatly improved by having other food sources and by having poultry sources only as z/d where the proteins are so broken down to amino acids as to be hypoallergenic.

Some people find that adding fiber to the diet helps. Canned, unsweetened pumpkin puree like is used in soup or pie making is often used. It only helped on of our two and only for a short period of time, but others have had better luck.
