Not sure why your vet put him on antibiotics if there was no "bad" bacteria in his
stools.

If his appetite was decreasing before the meds, and he had diarrhea - perhaps your
vet
should consider a partial obstruction. They're changing their coats right now, and
he
could very well have a hairball in his intestines. Or something else for that matter.
If
your vet suggests an xray, I'd go one step further and ask for a barium. A regular
xray
won't always show blockages and neither will bariums. However bariums give you
better odds at seeing something in my experience.

There are many things that can cause loose stools. I hope he was given a hairball
supplement regularly.

Just my suggestion - I'm not a vet. Oh yeah, giving meds can definitely increase
stress
and if they taste bad enough can compound an already existing problem.

[Moderator's Note: the meds being given are ones for helicobacter which does not
show up in the stools, and are also broad spectrum in case there is something else
not showing up.]
