Subject: [ferrethealth] Nilla's Chemotherapy for Lymphoma update

Nilla is on her 3rd week of the Tuft's protocol on Monday. She is going to
be starting the cytosar. So far she has not had any complications. The vet
has been able to do this protocol at their office, and only for 1 day out
of the whole protocol will I have to take her to the MSU Oncology center
(because the drug is a class X drug).
This protocol is wonderful because it can be done almost entirely at a
normal vet. I will post a total cost of the 6 week treatment when I am
finished to let others know how affordable it can be. We are not putting
her through the recommended staging every week other than at the end of
treatment (that would add a LOT of cost), however; we are only going to be
doing CBC's at the vet to make sure she is not going through bone marrow
suppression. I realize staging would be helpful for research but we would
rather save the money to treat her further.
I want to thank you all again. Without you, Nilla would not have had this
opportunity for chemotherapy. We are keeping records and will be sending
them out to the two veterinarians who are researching and using this
protocol.
