This may help you:

The mumps virus, a member of
the genus Paramyxovirus, is antigenically
related to the parainfluenza viruses. The
mode of transmission is airborne spread via
the infected droplet nuclei and or by direct
contact with saliva of an infected person

so I would guess that unless that person is infected rather that just caring for an infected person elsewhere this might be safe even if it does have any zoonotic potential for them.

Says that
The mumps virus causes mumps in man and parotiditis in dogs.

(but for some reason she has down that influenza is the cause of the common cold and seems to think that ferrets get both, so check this.)

http://www.lapublichealth.org/vet/guides/vetzooman.htm
lists dogs at risk

(When people talk of ferrets have "mumps" the ferret usually have lympho or sometimes an exteme infection.)
