Subject: [ferrethealth] ferret diagnosed with kidney failure

I wrote about a week ago, thinking that Micky ,my 4 year old ferret had a s=
pinal problem or possibly an injury because his first symptom was that he c=
ould began to drag his hind limbs. He was put on prednisolone.Then we also =
realized he had incontinence. After xrays and blood tests and consulting at=
least 4 vets, it turns out he has high creatinine levels at 1.5 and BUN at=
49. =
He eats and drinks , but other than that only wants to sleep. He can move h=
is hind legs when put in a vertical position, but when put on the floor he =
just drags them behind him, and he is constantly dripping urine, a few drop=
s at a time.
The last recommendation was to inject him with 80ml of saline solution per =
day to activate the kidney. While two vets insist there is nothing to be do=
ne, and I should put him to sleep.
I don=B4t know if there is a chance of recovery for this problem, so am dis=
tressed as I don=B4t know what to do. I want to give him every chance to re=
cover but hate to see him suffer. =
