Beck here. I found out also along with Poohbears AD that he has IBD also we are still
working on it and it has been along process. My vet, our ferret god here in pa. is
fantastic with this and ferrets. He is listed in the Ferret Mag. Dir.

Pooh started with the following:
Metaclopronide 1. 3 times aday.
Cisapride .2 twice aday
Metronide 2 times aday .25
Metacam once aday .2
This was for a 1.1 lb. ferret as Pooh lost 9 ozs. with his illness and were trying to
find a knowledgeable vet. We began to cut back on his meds in a couple of weeks
once we saw a change in his stool and vomiting. He no longer takes Metronide or
Cisapride this is after about 6 weeks.the metacam we have him on .1 and 1/4. He
still isn't as happy as he was but Im glad he is alive. He also had a Desirelyn inplant
administered after the Melatonin didn't seem to work. He also has AD. But no
surgery done. The previously mentioned med. is on trials. As my Vet is a professor
at Pitt. Univ. The Desirelyn inplant is doing very well, Poohs hair is growing back. We
are glad to have what we have for now as I thought we would have to put him down.
Hope this will help, I am not a vet but this is what we did and it seems to be
working. The vet did a barriman test to see how bad the furball was. Did yours?

Love and dooks from
Beck and Pooh

[Moderator's Note: The abbreviation used could cause some confusion. Working
from this post and past posting it looks like part of this post is not about AD. It is
about about a deslorelin implant for Adrenal Disease, a typically treatable problem,
rather than there being AD or ADV (Aleutian Disease, Aleutian Disease Virus) which
is currently terminal but for which there are approaches to improve life depending
on the organs damaged and for which work is under way at U.GA trying to develop a
vaccine. This sort of abbreviation confusion is not unusual at first.

Units and concentrations of the meds mentioned in the post are unclear.]
