Subject: [ferrethealth] Cryosurgery and strange fat deposits
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

I have two main questions I'm looking for advice/help on:

My little girl has just been diagnosed with adrenal disease. An ultrasound showed that her right adrenal gland was enlarged. I've read that the traditional surgery is not quite as successful on the right adrenal gland as it has been on the left, due to its proximity to the vena cava and the difficulty in removing the whole gland/tumor. Has anyone had experience with this? I've been reading up on cryosurgery, but am having trouble finding vets who perform it to ask more questions about whether Sadie is a good candidate for it or not. Does anyone know anyone who performs cryosurgery, esp. near upstate New York? I would be willing to travel - any name or resource suggestion would help.

Another strange thing is that Sadie has developed fatty tumors on the side of her neck and under her armpits. After numerous tests (including a biopsy), my vet is fairly confident that they are not cancerous. All they found in the biopsied tissue was fat. Has anyone experienced or heard of this happening with a ferret? If anyone could help shed some light on this strange phenomena, I'd appreciate it. My vet has never seen it before.
