I like the Freestyle brand, I have had another one ( older model
accucheck)
and found the freestyle much easier to use.
Not as accurate on the real low numbers ( seems to be a little higher
margin of error as the number drops below 80)- still low is low,
and I used it more for comparison to previous once a ferret was
on meds for insulinoma , or to check a ferret
that was not acting right- I used it for both a ferret with
insulinoma and one with diabetes.
I found that with practice, I can get a sample using a pad prick ( having
the
ferret lick ferretone off their belly the entire time nad not even
flinch).
I have used it on all my ferrets to compare and would get normal numbers
on the well ferrets, and the lows on the one with insulinoma- although I
do
repeat it if I get a number way off and it doesn't seem to correlate with
the ferret-
trying to get a little more blood the second time.
