Is it red blood or blackish like it is digested?
I lost a male around the same age last month. He started passing a bloody stool that continued to get worse over the weekend. I couldn't get into an emergency clinic, so I increased his carafate until I got the bleeding stopped.
Monday, xrays showed his entire abdomen was cloudy. Consulting with two vets, we determined any explanation for the clouded area wasn't good. When he stopped eating on Tuesday, he received his mercy shot.
Necropsy revealed a tumor on his intestine with a lot of fluids. The tumor had ruptured, spilling the contents of the intestines into the abdomen.
There are other things that could cause a bloody stool. I would suggest a check for coccidia and an xray to see if that shows anything.
Since you already visited the vet, were they able to determine what might be wrong?
