Are you having a bad allergy season?

We are going through the same thing with a male who, like yours, has had the vet check it out. We have eliminated the common possibilities which I would suspect your vet has considered (Ask about each.) such as parasites (fleas, mites, signs of bed bugs, etc.), adrenal growths, fungal disease such as ringworm, mast cell tumors, dry skin, etc. The vet thinks that he is having allergy problems. He has not been shampooed recently so it is not that; we only do that no more often than 2 to 4 times a year except for very ill ones who foul themselves. We do not use common triggers such as fabric softener, detergents with dye or perfume, litters with perfume, wood chips, cedar, etc.

What IS happening locally is we are having one of the worst seasons for certain pollens that we have had in many years. So, right now he is on steroids and cortizone cream, both of which are greatly helping, and we are running hepa filter air cleaners. (Avoid the ionizing air cleaners that cause the "clean, after rain" ozone smell because ozone is very hard on lungs and when it is in the lower atmosphere it is a pollutant.) Those are helping enough that we have not added plain (no additives) pediatric Benedryl Elixir but we have that as an option.
