Subject: [ferrethealth] RE: practical aspects of complete darkness
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

I have two ferrets that live outside and so have exposure to natural light cycles and change their weight/fur with the seasons. They are however brought into the house to play. This means that they are both exposed to artificial light during the winter evenings.

The both started with adrenal symptoms at 4.5 yrs of age, symptoms appearing within 3 months of each other.

Is the only option not letting them into the house in the winter evenings and depriving them of company and play? This doesn't seem a very good compromise.....
