All mail I receive has the date it was sent taken from the sender's
server, you can tell your computer to display that date. UNLESS this is
only a Microsoft thing? Chris

[Moderator's Note: This is a question which may help some people here, so I will
answer publicly.

Do NOT assume that the date put on by the Smartgroup's server is the same date
that the post was sent. Posts, digests, and communications that wind up in the bad
server can have extensive delays which are not reflected in the Smartgroup's date.
That is why using the BODY of the message is important. In discussions with a
number of list members some posts are showing up as late as 2 weeks after they
are sent by email. On testing, web appears to be more efficient than email for
sending.

When posters remember to put the date and time sent and whether the web was
used or email we get a better idea of functioning, and how functioning differs for
non-moderators compared to moderators. When that is done when there are
problems that allows us to suggest the approaches that will work better to help all
members when there is a malfunction, like now.

I think that we know now that sending by the web is more likely to result in rapid
processing than by email, though we certainly are not completely sure what will
happen since there is no way to predict which posts will wind up in the corrupted
server and which will wind up in the properly working ones.

Again, here are the easy instructions for working from the website:
Here is the website:
http://www.smartgroups.com/groups/ferrethealth

To read just select "message"

You can view an entire discussion or can select according to the date. Moving back
and forth between the two is easy.

To send a private message from the website select the poster's name.

To post a public reply from the web select the arrow.

To begin a new discussion from the website go to "Message" and then select the
envelope which I think is titled "Write Message".

Spam hurts everyone and when a massive spam attack hits a server used by many
then many wind up hurt. At least this wasn't a hospital server or other essential
location.]
