It sounds like you need to discuss this with your treating vet.

With the problem cleared up it may be that it was instead something like a temporary colitis perhaps beginning from infection that took some time to reduce with the steroid's help*, but no one can know that long distance without knowing what the vet was able to eliminate and why.

Your vet might want to try a trial by weaning down the Pred and if so will give you a schedule for reductions, or instead may want to try dietary changes, or activity increases.

Try calling your vet and ask for a call-back at the vet's convenience, then see if the vet wants to try some things by phone instruction or would like to assess the situation with an appointment since there may be further considerations.

*Our Spot was in that exact position after ECE and many bad intestinal infections could potentially cause some temporary colitis.
