I have never given Cimetidine (Tagamet) by injection. I have given it orally. That being said, you should follow your vets' instructions. I wouldn't assume you could switch the preparation you have been given to oral administration.
Ferrets have tough skin. When I need to give an injection, I pull up a pinch of skin on the back of the neck and insert the needle.
