Subject: [ferrethealth] Yogi and Buddy update (gone and strong)

Last week, I came home to find Yogi seizing & foaming at the mouth. No idea how long she'd been at it, but I gave her a shot of dex right away and tried to get honey and dextrose in her. When the didn't work, I took her to the vet and they tried valium and more steroids, neither of which helped. Also glucose. 2.5 hours after finding her, the vet told me that they'd tried everything they knew, it wasn't going to stop, and that if I waited til the valium wore off, she'd be much worse. So we euthanized her.

Buddy is doing well on the melatonin, so as many people suggested his problem may have been adrenal and not thyroid. He gets lupron on Tuesday, and has not had trouble breathing or needed pain meds in over a month. I've put him on a bit of a diet because he had fat in with his vital organs. He hates it, but recently fit through the tube connecting the top level of the play cage. Cool!

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and support with my three elders. (I talk about Cookie in another post)
