Subject: Re: [ferrethealth] Mumps (Parotitis) in ferrets - is it possible?
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

Parotitis or Mumps? Mumps is a pretty rare illness.
The housekeeper would not be contagious at all, only
the daughter.
Parotitis can have other causes, most likely is a parotid stone
or infection to the parotid gland itself.

I don't know if ferrets can get mumps, but I doubt there is any
concern here.
