Subject: [ferrethealth] sedation for blood sample

I work as an assistant at a small veterinary clinic. We have to draw some blood from my oldest ferret in order to run a couple of blood tests. Other vets have tried to do this earlier without any sedation, and it hasn't worked very well.

What can be used for sedation without lowering the blood pressure? We've tried a mixture of tilatemin/zolazepam/xylazin/butorfanol (Zoletil mixture), and the anesthesia was very nice and stable, but we were unable to get enough blood this way.
